Outwood Academy Valley, formerly Valley Comprehensive School, converted to Academy status in June 2012, sponsored by Outwood Grange Academies Trust. The Trust currently sponsors a number of secondary and primary schools in the region.
In February 2011, Valley Comprehensive School received a full inspection and was placed into a category “Notice to improve”. Having worked with Outwood Grange Trust for less than 18 months, the Academy received a full Ofsted Report in March 2014 and was judged as “Good”. In May 2017 we were absolutely delighted to report that the Academy received a further full Ofsted visit and the outcome was as follows:

The Academy was awarded the status of National Support School in July 2013.
Our Academy vision is “students first: raising standards and transforming lives.” (Martyn Oliver – Chief Executive).
In 2016 85% of our students achieved a C+ in both English and maths and in 2017 and this current year, 2017, around 80% of our students gained a grade 4 or higher in both English and maths with over 60% of our students gaining a 5 or higher. We are especially proud of our students who achieved the new grade 9 in English and maths, overall 31 grade 9s were achieved with over 25% of students receiving grades 7-9 in English and maths. In addition, 25% of students achieved the full EBacc.
We are committed to providing high standards of education for students. Our innovative vertical curriculum centred on a 2 year Key Stage 3 and a 3 year Key Stage 4 personalises the learning of all students. Vocational, practical, creative and academic qualities are valued equally in the Academy where we really do embrace the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda.
