Welcome to Design Technology

Design Technology at Outwood Academy Valley comprises of the following subjects: Resistant Materials, Textiles, Graphics, Product Design, Construction and Food. The subjects all involve an exciting mix of practical and theory work at all key stages.

Key Stage 3

Food, Graphics, Resistant Materials and Textiles at Key Stage 3 are all studied for 10 weeks each in years 7 and 8. This provides students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to access the qualifications on offer at Key Stage 4. The subjects involve the development of a range of practical skills that are supplemented with an in depth knowledge of design and technology principles.

WJEC level 1/2 Award in Hospitality and Catering

Students apply their learning to safely prepare, cook and present nutritional dishes. They will draw on their learning of different types of provision and kitchen and front of house operations in Unit 1, as well as personal safety in their preparations.
